Alpine sits at roughly 5,000 feet at the base of the Wasatch foothills in Utah County — noticeably cooler than the Salt Lake Valley floor below, with a shorter growing season and an earlier first-frost than most of our other service areas. Planting timing, species selection, and frost-date planning all work differently here. The lots are larger and the community is newer, mostly built from the 1990s onward on the bench above American Fork Canyon. We serve Alpine from our Draper office — the south mountain route puts us about 20 minutes from the center of Alpine for most project visits.
Alpine's elevation means cooler average temperatures, a shorter frost-free window, and planting timing that runs 2-3 weeks behind the valley floor. Species that thrive in Draper or Sandy may not perform as well at Alpine's elevation — we select plants appropriate for the 5,000-ft microclimate rather than importing valley-floor assumptions. Hardiness zone and first-frost date are the starting point for every Alpine planting plan.
Alpine is in Utah County, served by Central Utah Water Conservancy District (CUWCD). CUWCD runs its own water-wise rebate programs through Utah Water Savers — separate from JVWCD's programs but comparable in scope. We're familiar with both districts and handle pre-approval paperwork as part of every project.
Alpine's bench properties have significant grade toward the Wasatch — retaining walls, terracing, and drainage planning are common on east-side and upper-bench lots near American Fork Canyon. The soil is coarser and better-draining on the bench, which changes irrigation spacing and bed prep from what's standard in the valley. We design for what's actually there, not for an average lot somewhere in the valley.
Alpine's lots trend larger and the community is affluent — full outdoor living packages are well-suited to the scale of property here. Pools, patios, outdoor kitchens, and complete landscape design are regular project types from our Draper office. The cooler climate also makes outdoor entertaining more comfortable through more of the season than valley-floor locations.

Yes. At roughly 5,000 ft, Alpine runs cooler than the Salt Lake Valley with a shorter frost-free window. Planting timing, species selection, and frost-date planning all differ from lower-elevation areas — we design for Alpine's actual microclimate, not valley-floor assumptions.
