Residential Landscaping

Front and back yard landscape installation for Davis and Weber County homeowners. New builds, renovations, and cleanup of neglected yards — all with irrigation, planting, and grading handled by one crew.

What residential landscaping includes and what drives the project scope

A full residential landscape install covers planting beds and shrub installation, sod or seed, hardscape, irrigation system, bark and edging, and grading corrections. On a new build lot, there's also significant rough grade work to do before any of that can happen — most new construction leaves lots with uneven, poorly compacted soil that needs to be corrected before it can support a finished landscape. We do that work, not just the planting on top of it.

For renovation projects on established lots, the scope depends on what's staying and what's coming out. We do full tearout-and-redo jobs as well as targeted refreshes — replacing dead planting beds, adding new hardscape to an existing yard, or installing a new irrigation system when the old one has failed. We walk through the yard with you before quoting and only scope what actually needs to be done.

Utah-specific considerations: water, HOAs, and secondary systems

Water efficiency matters in Utah. We specify plants from the Utah Water Savers and Localscapes programs where appropriate and design irrigation zones to match the water needs of what's planted — turf zones run differently from drip zones for shrubs and trees. Secondary water systems (pressurized irrigation water, separate from culinary) are common in Davis County and significantly reduce irrigation costs. We design for secondary water connection where it's available.

Many Davis County properties are in HOA-governed communities. HOAs often have specific requirements for front yard landscaping: turf percentages, approved plant lists, fence heights, and timing of installation after move-in. We know the general requirements for communities in Farmington, Kaysville, Centerville, and Bountiful and can work within HOA guidelines. We recommend confirming HOA approval for your specific design before installation begins.

Residential Landscaping Questions

Common questions about yard installations, irrigation, and water efficiency in Utah.

01How much does residential landscaping cost in Utah?

A basic front yard install (sod, planting beds, irrigation) for a typical Davis County home runs $5,000 to $20,000. Full backyard projects vary much more widely based on hardscape, grade changes, and features — $15,000 to $60,000 is typical for a full backyard design-build. Component pricing: sod $2-$4/sqft, planting beds $10-$20/sqft, irrigation $3-$7/sqft.

02Do you do both front and back yards?

Yes. We typically do both as one project to get the irrigation controller and zones designed together, so you're not running two separate systems. Front and back are often done in one mobilization, which also keeps costs lower than separate installs.

03Do you install irrigation?

Yes. Irrigation is included in full landscape installs and can also be added as a standalone project. We install both pressurized secondary water systems (where available in Davis County) and culinary water systems. Secondary water significantly reduces annual irrigation costs — we always ask about secondary water availability when quoting an irrigation project.

04Can I get rebates for water-wise landscaping in Utah?

Yes. The Utah Water Savers program offers rebates for water-wise plant installation and turf conversion. Davis County water districts also have conservation incentive programs. We can help you design a landscape that qualifies for rebates. Check with your local water district for current rebate amounts and eligibility requirements.

05Do you work on HOA-governed properties?

Yes. Many of the subdivisions in Farmington, Kaysville, and Centerville are HOA-governed. We're familiar with the general landscaping requirements in these communities. For specific HOA rules, we recommend getting written approval from your HOA before installation begins — we can provide a design drawing to submit for approval if needed.
