Home Utah Draper Sandy

Landscaper in Sandy, Utah

Sandy sits between the Salt Lake Valley and the Wasatch foothills, with Little Cottonwood Canyon at its east edge and Dimple Dell Regional Park running through the south. Bell Canyon — a gated community in the foothills — runs on its own gravity-fed reservoir, separate from the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District water that serves the rest of Sandy. Most of Sandy was built between the 1970s and 1990s: established lots with 30-40 year old trees, hardscape that's shifted and settled, and irrigation systems that have been patched rather than redesigned. From our Draper office, Sandy is a 10-minute drive — we run projects here every week.

Bell Canyon & Water Districts

Two water systems, one Sandy crew

Bell Canyon is a gated community within Sandy's city limits, served by its own gravity-fed reservoir rather than JVWCD culinary water. Properties within Bell Canyon have different water pressure and delivery characteristics that affect how we design the irrigation system. We identify the water source — and what it means for system design — before we finalize any irrigation plan.

The rest of Sandy runs on Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District, and Utah Water Savers rebates apply — up to $3 per sq ft for turf-to-waterwise conversion. Pre-approval has to be filed before any turf removal, and we handle that as part of every project. Sandy's established lots often have large turf areas installed in the 1970s-80s — the rebate potential on conversion projects here can be significant.

Established Neighborhoods & Hillside Work

Mature yards, ready for renovation

Sandy's core was built out primarily in the 1970s-80s — lots with mature shade trees, settled concrete, and irrigation systems that have been band-aided for decades. Most of our Sandy work is renovation: pulling out what's failed, redesigning the irrigation to current conservation standards, and rebuilding hardscape that's heaved. The existing tree canopy is usually worth keeping — we design around it.

East Sandy near Little Cottonwood Canyon and Dimple Dell has hillside terrain and drainage from the canyon watershed. Properties on the east-side bench need retaining walls and proper drainage planning — the soil transitions from flat-valley clay loam to coarser bench composition as you move up toward the foothills.

In Sandy we build retaining walls near Little Cottonwood Canyon, residential landscaping in Sandy, and landscape design and build in Sandy.

FAQ

Questions Sandy Homeowners Ask

01 Is Bell Canyon in Sandy on a different water system?
+

Yes. Bell Canyon is a private gated community with its own gravity-fed reservoir, separate from JVWCD. Properties within Bell Canyon have distinct water pressure and delivery characteristics that change how we design irrigation. We identify the water source before finalizing any plan.

02 Do you work on established 1970s-80s Sandy lots?
+

Yes. Sandy's core neighborhoods have mature trees, settled hardscape, and irrigation systems that are 30-40 years old. Most of our Sandy work is renovation — pull out what's failed, redesign the irrigation for current water standards, rebuild hardscape that's shifted.

03 Do you build on hillside lots near Little Cottonwood Canyon?
+

Yes. East Sandy lots near the canyon have bench soil, real grade, and drainage from the canyon watershed. Retaining walls and drainage planning are standard on those properties.

04 Do you help Sandy homeowners with Utah Water Savers rebates?
+

Yes. Sandy properties are eligible for up to $3/sq ft on turf conversion. Pre-approval must be on file before any grass comes out — we handle that paperwork as part of every conversion project.
