Landscape Design & Build

Custom landscape design and full installation for Davis and Weber County properties. We take your yard from a dirt lot or overgrown mess to a finished outdoor space — design, hardscape, planting, irrigation, and lighting all coordinated by one crew.

From consultation to construction drawings

We start with a site walkthrough — looking at the existing grade, drainage, sun exposure, utility locations, and anything the homeowner wants to keep or remove. From there we put together a concept plan that shows layout, material selections, and plant placement. This isn't a 3D render with photorealistic trees — it's a working plan that the installation crew can build from. Clear, accurate, and useful.

The design accounts for how everything works together: where hardscape meets planting beds, where irrigation zones need to run before any concrete is poured, where retaining walls affect grade. Getting these sequenced correctly is what separates a landscape that holds up from one that causes problems a few seasons in. We also flag HOA requirements, secondary water system compatibility, and any permit needs during the design phase — before you're committed to a layout that doesn't meet local rules.

Installation in the right order, managed by one team

A full landscape install has a sequence: rough grading first, then underground utilities and irrigation rough-in, then hardscape (concrete, pavers, retaining walls), then planting and sod, then irrigation final, then lighting. When different subs are managing different pieces, that sequence breaks down — the patio gets poured before irrigation is roughed in, or planting happens before drainage is sorted. We run the whole sequence ourselves, which means it's done in the right order and coordinated correctly.

For larger properties or projects with a longer timeline, we can phase the work. Phase one might be the hardscape, irrigation, and primary planting. Phase two the following spring might be sod, a patio extension, and outdoor lighting. Phasing lets you manage budget over time without the project sitting half-finished. We plan the phases so each one looks complete on its own, not like a construction site waiting for the next stage.

Landscape Design & Build Questions

Common questions about the design process, timelines, and what full-service landscape installation includes.

01How much does a landscape design cost in Utah?

Design consultation and site plan fees run $500 to $2,000 depending on property size and complexity. For full design-build projects, the design fee is often credited toward the installation. We don't charge for an initial walkthrough — that's just a conversation about your project and a look at the site.

02How long does a landscape design-build project take?

A typical residential backyard project runs 2 to 6 weeks from start to finish depending on scope. Design and permitting happen before the build phase. Larger projects with phased installations can run across multiple seasons. We give you a timeline before work starts so you know what to expect.

03Do you do 3D renderings?

We produce accurate site plans and material selections. We don't do photorealistic 3D renders — those take time and cost that most residential projects don't need. The plan we provide shows layout, hardscape placement, planting zones, and material callouts clearly enough for you to understand what you're getting and for our crew to build from.

04Can I phase the project over multiple years?

Yes, and we plan for it. We design the full project upfront so phased work ties together correctly, then build it in stages that match your budget and timeline. Common phasing: hardscape and irrigation in phase one, planting and sod in phase two. Each phase is designed to look finished, not like a project mid-construction.

05Do you handle irrigation and hardscape together?

Yes — we coordinate both. Irrigation rough-in happens before hardscape is poured, so we don't end up cutting through concrete to run lines. This is one of the main reasons to use a full-service installer rather than separate subs. When irrigation, concrete, and planting are managed by one team, the sequence is correct and nothing has to be redone.
