Is your Farmington home on Benchland’s sprinkler system? Most homes here are. So are many in Kaysville and Fruit Heights. That water is not clean drinking water. It comes from taps painted red. It carries dirt and algae. Without a good filter, it clogs valves, nozzles, and drip lines fast. We build the filter into every system we design. We do not bolt it on later.
Benchland drains its main lines around September 15. After that, the system has to be blown out. If it is not, the cold can crack it. We plan install dates and fall care around that. Weber Basin’s 2026 cut and May 15 start also shape how we plant and how much water we can use.
From lake-flat clay to mountain bench
Farmington sits in a narrow strip. The Wasatch Mountains are on one side. The Great Salt Lake is on the other. The city is about 4,246 feet up. Head east toward Fruit Heights and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and the soil turns sandy. It drains well. But the hills get steep fast. That is where retaining walls and terraces come in. Head west toward I-15 and Farmington Bay and the soil turns to clay. Clay holds water. It needs different beds and different drains.
We build for both ends. Near Fruit Heights and Kaysville we do walls and slope work. Closer to Farmington Bay, Lagoon, Cherry Hill, and Station Park we build full yards on clay. Centerville sits just south of us. The same split applies there.
